Are you tired of having cellulite? You are not alone – one of the largest complaints from women all over the country is their inability to lose this stubborn skin problem. And I say women because females are more genetically predisposed to this condition due to the structure of the fat cells and because they store more fat than men. The problem appears when too much fat begins to poke through the connective tissues beneath the skin.
In the 1970s, the word “cellulite” was first used by VOGUE Magazine. Since then, skin care and beauty companies have successfully used the hysteria women for having a perfect body to develop various treatments to get rid of cellulite. But in reality, there is no holy grail in terms of cellulite reduction cream, wraps, massage machines or quick fix. All of these treatments can reduce cellulite temporarily but the condition will re-appear again when you have stopped the treatment. Cellulite removal surgery is the only method that leads to permanent results.
The best way to get rid of cellulite is exercise. However, cardiovascular exercise by itself is unlikely to see the results that you are after. This is because cellulite is due to either too much fat and too little muscle. Muscle provides a solid foundation for the cellulite to sit on and stretches the fat and skin for a smoother appearance. Cardio will only burn away the fat but will do nothing to increase the levels of lean muscle. You need to combine both cardio exercise and strength training to see the best results.
Squats, dead-lifts, lunges and leg curls are ideal strength exercises to work the muscles of the cellulite prone areas. The best cardio machines for cellulite are the treadmill, stair stepper and cycling – this will increase your heat rate to burn fat and also workout the muscles of the hip, thighs and buttocks. For the best results, you should spend twenty minutes doing strength training and twenty minutes doing cardio for three times a week.
I don’t agree that you have to undergo surgery to permanently remove cellulite. Even with surgery, the cellulite is bound to return if you do not change what originally caused it to manifest, that is lack of exercise and unhealthy diet to a certain extent.
