How powerful does my blender need to be?

That is a question that everyone asks all the time. Much like ‘the other guy’ from the movie Fight Club where everyone keeps asking him if he knows Tyler Durden. While whether Edward Norton knew Tyler or not is an answer I can’t give without a spoiler warning, the other question of how powerful your blender needs to however is a lot more easily answered. Your blender should be as powerful as you need it to be for whatever task you are assigning it at any given moment. While you might think that it might be a good thing to go buy the best and biggest out there, I would like to remind you that when it comes to a speed blender, both of them do not go hand in hand. Also, you might not want to buy the most powerful blender out there as some the bigger ones go up to 2 hp which is horse power. Imagine how hard it would be to make a smooth banana daiquiri with 2 horses!

Another problem with the biggest is best approach is that big blenders generate too much heat to make them usable. This is something that I realized recently when I was making my kids a couple of ice and strawberry smoothies. In trying tot get the strawberry seeds to mix in I figured that I’d blend it in a little bit longer than I would usually do so that the mix was consistent. What happened instead was that the ice began melting out due to the increased levels of heat that the blender’s motor was producing. The Vita Mix 1300 TurboBlend 4500 is a great blender when it comes to getting yourself a multi-purpose machine that does it all! Buy one of these nifty gizmos and I assure you that you’ll be able to get the quality and speed that you are looking for.
